The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), in collaboration with the PSN Young Pharmacists Group (YPG) FCT Branch, alongside representatives from its Welfare, Education, and Ethics Committees, have visited the FCT National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp to welcome 18 pharmacist Corps members.

Youth Corp members welcomed to Abuja

During the visit, the PSN donated essential drugs to the camp clinic, a gesture warmly received by the NYSC-FCT Coordinator, Mrs. Shokpeka Winifred Ngozi. She expressed deep gratitude to the society for its support, emphasising the importance of collaboration in ensuring the well-being of Corps members.

In a related development, the Chairman of PSN FCT, Pharm. Salamatu Orakwelu, released a statement in commemoration of World Cancer Day, observed annually on February 4th. She highlighted the significance of this year’s theme, “United by Unique,” which calls for a people-centred approach to cancer care.

“Cancer is more than a medical diagnosis; it is a deeply personal journey for each patient,” Orakwelu stated. She emphasised the crucial role of pharmacists in providing not just medications, but also emotional support, education on treatment options, and management of side effects.

She further urged pharmacists to commit to personalised care, empathy, continuous education, and community engagement in cancer prevention and awareness. “By focusing on the individual and their unique journey, we can make a significant impact in the fight against cancer,” she added.

The PSN FCT remains committed to both public health advocacy and professional support, reinforcing its role in enhancing healthcare delivery in the Federal Capital Territory.
